Mask Hacks 😷💙

Face masks are mandatory in all Costco stores so I thought it would be helpful to share some face mask tips and tricks I have accumulated over the past few months :)

1. For a tighter fitting mask

For those with small faces this is a great hack to use! Simply fold your mask in half, and tie each ear loop at the edge of the mask. Open your mask and adjust the cloth to close up any space. @oliviacuidmd on TikTok shows this tip here:

2. Use buttons on hats or headbands for sore ears

Sew on some buttons to hats or headbands to use as hooks for your ear mask bands!

3. To prevent foggy glasses

If you are using a mask with a bendable nose strip, make sure it is pinched securely around your nose bridge. I also tuck in my mask securely under the bottom of my glasses so that the top is sealed off. I've also seen people use sports tape or medical tape to tape down the mask around the nose of the bridge to prevent foggy glasses.

4. A sore ears hack for those with longer hair

If you have longer hair, you can use your hair to hold back your mask if your ears are getting uncomfortable!

  • Tie your hair into low ponytails/buns and loop your facemask around your hair

  • OR use a hair clip to hold back your mask (and add a touch of style✨)

5. ANOTHER way to pin back a facemask without using your ears

If you have shorter hair or wear a hijab, use a safety pin or paperclip to loop your facemask around the back of your head like this:

6. Washing your reusable mask

It's really up to you how often you want to wash your mask, but I normally wash mine after every Costco trip, or if I go on a hike and it gets wet and sweaty- I wash it ASAP.

  • Most reusable masks can be thrown right into the washing machine with your regular detergent for a thorough disinfection

  • You can also wash your masks by hand using hot water, soap, and a vigorous scrubbing motion

  • I've also seen people boil their masks for 5ish minutes (since hot temperatures kill the covid virus)

Also do NOT microwave your masks.
