I love bread. I love the taste, the texture, the versatility. I also love breakfast foods. Therefore, it's no big surprise that I LOVE french toast. The crispy texture of the bread with the rich butter and egg taste is SCRUMPTIOUS.
Today, I would like to share a twist on this breakfast food by introducing you to my savory french toast recipe.
I always use these artisan rolls from Costco for this recipe- their sturdiness and sponginess gives the perfect crunchy bite and holds a lot of flavor.
THE RECIPE
Ingredients (for one serving):
- Artisan Roll
- One egg
- Salt
- Vegetable Oil/ Butter
- Chives (optional)
Steps:
Cut your artisan roll into small bite-size cubes
Beat one egg in a bowl with a pinch of salt
Submerge your bread cubes into the egg mixture until all the egg is absorbed
Lightly grease a pan with vegetable oil/butter
Fry your bread cubes on the pan, flipping to make sure all sides are evenly cooked
Garnish with chives and/or another sprinkle of salt
